34-7 Horizontal Scarifier

The Kershaw 34-7 Horizontal Scarifier is a powerful machine that scarifies the tie bed with minimum disturbance to the line and surface of the track. The teeth scarify a width of 9 inches (229mm). Its plow has a reach of 8 feet 9 inches (2667) from the centerline of the track. The standard scarifier head clears a total width of 15 feet 4 inches (4673mm).

The Horizontal Scarifier is a self-propelled machine designed to loosen and remove ballast and other debris from the cribs where old ties have been removed. The head design enables the machine to consistently scarify the right amount of ballast for easy tie insertion with a minimum of tie bed disturbance and tamping requirements.
